Electronics Design Engineer

As part of our Engineering team, the Electronics Design Engineer is a key contributor to the research and development of conceptual ideas, architecture, and processes for new products as well as performance improvement of existing products through to development and optimization of manufacturing and test processes. The successful candidate will have access to cutting-edge technology and participation in challenging, exciting projects.

What You Will Be Doing

The Electronics Design Engineer plays an integral role from brainstorming and prototype development to series production launch and beyond, including: 

  • Development of new professional lighting products, combining mechanical, electrical, and optical systems
  • Development of system-level architecture, specifications, and schematics
  • Schematic design, PCB layout design, and generation and maintenance of corporate component libraries
  • Generating BOMs and associated manufacturing drawings and documentation for PCBA’s
  • Assembly, Test, and debugging prototypes to validate designs for performance, reliability, and conformity to applicable standards (TUV, IPC, FCC, IC, CE, etc.)
  • Research, source and follow up with suppliers/vendors for prototypes and production
  • Performing new product pre-qualification testing and assisting in EMC/EMI and safety testing compliance according to performance and quality specifications
  • Project follow up and continuous improvement initiatives for product design modifications and component substitutions
  • Research and evaluation of new technologies

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A Great Attitude!
  • Post-secondary education in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Accurate and meticulous with a problem-solving attitude and troubleshooting mindset
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Electronics Design
  • Proficient with EDA tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, LT Spice, etc. 
  • Knowledge of Arm Microprocessors to read electrical schematics and operate measuring tools (manual and electronic) for testing and debugging
  • Demonstrated experience working with electronic communication protocols such as RS485, ethernet, USB, Bluetooth
  • Ability to understand complex mathematical relationships that underpin electrical analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team 
  • Highly organized and detailed-oriented  

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Professional Lighting. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of embedded code (C, C++).   
  • Experience with mechanical CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Draftsight).
  • LabVIEW
