Electronics Test and Support Engineer

The Electronics Test and Support Engineer will work alongside a team of Electronic and Mechanical Engineers to research, develop and test new products, as well as optimizing manufacturing and production processes. The Electronics Test and Support Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the whole team through prototype development to series production launch and beyond, including:

  • Assembly and test of proof of concept and pre-production prototypes to validate designs for performance, reliability, and conformity to applicable standards.
  • Planning qualification or standard test methods and procedures, including creating a test plan, designing and building jigs, obtaining quotes from vendors, and procuring testing supplies.
  • Analysing test plans, and suggesting and implementing modifications to achieve adequate test coverage
  • Conduction of tests or experiments and production of corresponding test reports, along with detailed recording of all relevant data.
  • Conduct or collaborate on internal light setup, installation, and control around the building.
  • Conduct simple schematic and PCB layout design
  • Perform modifications on finished PCBs, including removing and soldering of components, for test purposes.
  • Generation and maintenance of corporate libraries of components.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, offering suggestions for product design modifications and component substitutions.
  • Performing new product pre-qualification testing and assisting in EMC/EMI and safety testing compliance according to performance and quality specifications.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate documentation according to company standards.
  • Sourcing and quoting of components and assemblies; working with vendors (domestic and international).
  • Managing relationships with external suppliers of custom manufactured goods including cost negotiating and quality management.
  • Equipment troubleshooting, failure analysis investigation, repair, and maintenance

What we’re looking for:

  • Post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1-3 years of working experience in Electronics Design.
  • Proficient with EDA tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, LT Spice, etc.
  • Capable of operating oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies, light measuring instruments, and
  • Ability to manage priorities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics and embedded code (C, C++).
  • Ability to complete tasks in creative and effective ways, with minimal guidance and oversight, and report their completion in a clear and organized way.
  • Communication and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Skills

  • Some experience with mechanical CAD (i.e. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Draftsight).
  • Experience with LabVIEW

Working Conditions

  • Usually works in a lab or plant/warehouse environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces.
  • Standard work week, but on rare occasions will work overtime hours to accommodate activities.
